Stanley Terence BlackAlthough residing in Onchan from the age of 6, he was born in Ramsey and spent one year at Albert Road School.

His education continued at Onchan Primary School and Douglas High School for Boys. He resided in Nursery Avenue, Royal Drive and finally Birch Hill Park.

After leaving school he worked for a year with Onchan electrician Fred Farrar whose workshop was behind Nursery Avenue. He then started a five-year apprenticeship with Douglas Corporation Electricity Department in 1948 and qualified as an electrician.

He continued service with them until the amalgamation with the Isle of Man Electricity Board to form the Manx Electricity Authority with whom his employment continued until his retirement in April 1996.

His two years National Service was with the RAF.

He is a life member of the Royal Air Force Association, a member of the Onchan Branch of the British Legion and also The Friends of Onchan'' Heritage.

He was elected to the Board of the District Commissioners at a bye-election in October 1990 and became Chairman in May 1997 serving a one-year term of office. He was also elected Chairman for one year in May 2002
