June Kelly She was born in Douglas where her parents resided in May 1958. Her education was at the Sunshine School Pulrose and then Tynwald Street Girls School before moving onto the junior section of Douglas High School for Girls at Ballakermeen.

When she was 13 she moved to Ballasalla and so she completed her secondary education at Castle Rushen High School.

Leaving school at 16 she started work as a nursery assistant at the Frances Villas Day Nursery in Douglas.

In 1975 she enrolled on the first ever NNEB course to be run at the College of Further Education.

Two years later year she took up employment at the Glencrutchery Residential Hostel and School. She married David Kelly in 1979 and moved to Cronk Avenue in Onchan where she continues to live.

In 1980 she had a change of career and began nursing. She attended the Isle of Man School of Nursing in Douglas and succeeded in becoming a State Enrolled Nurse (SEN) in 1982.

She took a four year break in 1986 to have her two daughters. When she returned to work she was as bank nurse dealing with elderly patients at the White Hoe and Nobles Hospital. Gradually she increased her hours at work and was promoted to deputy ward manager in 1998 and then acting ward manager of the acute medical ward in 2001.

She commenced long distance learning with South Bank University in 1997 and gained a Diploma in Nursing Studies. She also took a conversion course and became a State Registered Nurse in 1999. Another change in career came in 2001 when she started work as a health visitor assistant. She undertook a residential course at Bolton Institute during 2003 and qualified with a BSc (Hons) degree Specialist Practitioner in Public Health.

She now continues to work as a health visitor. She has had a life long involvement in the Salvation Army and from 1998 to 2002 she was a parent governor at St Ninians High School. In Onchan she became the treasurer of the Onchan Live at Home Scheme when it commenced in 2003 and continues in office.

She was elected to the commissioners at a bye-election held on 18 th January 2007 to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of David Quirk when he became an MHK.

She is currently Lead Member for Properties and Amenities
