Kerbside Recycling Scheme

The Government's centrally-funded trial scheme for kerbside collection of recyclates in Douglas, Onchan and Braddan, comes to an end in September 2011. Although provisionally agreeing to continue with the scheme until March 2012, the three local authorities are now considering the financial and environmental viability of the scheme prior to any agreement to continue the service beyond that date at local ratepayers' cost.

Onchan Commissioners have been discussing the project for some time and a short document has recently been circulated in public. This was the subject of a 'Talking Heads' programme on Manx Radio on Tuesday 21st December 2010. We are very pleased that it has generated some debate.
