ONCHAN DISTRICT COMMISSIONERS
PRESS RELEASE
BIN THERE
Onchan District Commissioners are pleased to announce the appointment
of Tim Craig as their new Deputy Clerk from 1 st August. Tim steps up
from his current post as Waste Operations Manager for the Commissioners,
responsible for all aspects of refuse and street cleanliness, together
with the introduction of the computerised bin weighing system for charging
commercial customers for refuse disposal by weight.
Before joining the Commissioners three years ago, Tim had a varied career
of over twenty years in the Manx Civil Service, including posts in Customs
and Excise and the General Registry. He says of his new appointment “I’ve
enjoyed my time to date with the Commissioners, and have seen at first
hand the importance the people of Onchan and our customers in other parishes
rightly place on our services. As Deputy Clerk, I’m looking forward
to being part of the team developing and improving those services. I
suppose my only regret on leaving my current post will be the lack of
day to day contact with our bin men, who do a mucky job in all weathers
with the minimum of fuss, and it’s been a great experience working
with them.
Chairman of the Commissioners, Derek Crellin, added “We were pleased
to have been able to appoint Tim from a strong field of candidates for
the post. His experience and commitment will be very welcome in dealing
with the challenges that lie ahead for local government in general, and
Onchan District Commissioners in particular.”
