On the evening of Wednesday 28th
August His Excellency the Lieutenant Governor Air Marshal Ian Macfadyen
and Mrs Macfadyen paid an informal visit to the new sheltered accommodation
block being built virtually in their back garden in the fields
of Bemahague adjoining Heywood Park.
The complex is being built by Parkinsons jointly
for Onchan District Commissioners, SSAFFA and the Joint Ex-Servicemen’s
Association who will have an equal number of rooms to allocate
when the complex is finished.
The centre will be managed by the commissioners
on similar lines to Springfield Court.
The guests were shown around the £3.2
million, 32 unit block by representatives of the commissioners,
the architects, the consultants and the contractors.
