Golden Jubilee Fair, Village Green, Church Road

Back to Golden Jubilee Celebrations in Onchan

On 1st June a Golden Jubilee Fair was held on the Village Green in Church Road. Stalls were set up by various groups and societies.

Each group used the opportunity to raise money as well as providing entertainment for those attending.

Participants included:

  • Onchan Methodist Ladies,
  • Onchan Rotary Club,
  • Onchan Pensioners Club,
  • Manx Meet-a-Mum,
  • Onchan Townswomen’s Guild,
  • Onchan Jubilee WI,
  • Avondale WI,
  • Onchan Branch of Royal British Legion,
  • 2nd Onchan Scouts,
  • Onchan Flower Club,
  • Onchan Baptist Church,
  • Onchan and District WI,
  • St Peter’s Ladies Group,
  • 1st Onchan Guides,
  • St Peter’s Mothers Union
  • 2nd Onchan Brownies.

Entertainment was provided by Onchan Primary School (Manx dancing), Ashley Hill School (choir), Onchan Entertainers (dancing display), Onchan Silver Band (music) and Onchan Ladies Choir.

Their conductor Mrs Graham retired after many years service to the group and a small presentation was made to her
