Mr John Frederick (Jack) Skillicorn.

It is with great sadness that the Commissioners have learned of the death on 20th October of their former Chairman and long serving Member, Mr John Frederick (Jack) Skillicorn.

Mr. Skillicorn joined the Board of Onchan Village Commissioners aged 35 in November 1958. He was Onchan born, as were his parents before him. At the time of his election he was residing in School Road. During the Second World War he served in the Scots Guards. He later joined the Ambulance Service at Nobles (IOM) Hospital where he worked for 13 years until his retirement. In his youth he was one of the first members of the reformed Onchan Ambulance Class and later a member of the Onchan Branch of the Royal British Legion. He was Chairman of the Village Commissioners in 1965 and retired by rotation in 1973 after 15 years service.
