World Book Night - Coffee and a Cooish

When Onchan’s first public library opened in 1944, the Chairman said he hoped it would be a place where people could have a 'Cooish' as well as borrow books. It’s been a tradition ever since, and one that’s being celebrated on World Book Night with a visit from the Eastern Live At Home scheme for ‘Coffee and a Cooish’.

Live at Home is local charity dedicated to supporting our Island’s older generations to live independently, and promote their well-being. Harvey Briggs Onchan Library has been selected by World Book Night to give Live at Home members brand new copies of ‘Our Summer Together’ by best-selling author Fanny Blake.

World Book Night is held on Monday 23rd April, and books will be given away all over Britain to bring the pleasure and benefits of reading to local communities. Harvey Briggs Onchan Library are delighted to be taking part, and looking forward to welcoming Eastern Live at Home for a Coffee and a Cooish, and sharing the companionship of a good read.
