Born (1953) and bred in Douglas, despite having lived in Ramsey and Peel, Chris has lived most of his life in Onchan.
Educated at Murray's Road and Douglas High Schools, Chris left school at 15 years old without any educational qualifications and started training as an apprentice motor mechanic. After two years he joined the Isle of Man Constabulary as a Cadet and was appointed Constable at 19yrs old.
In all Chris served 20 years with the Police, specialising in Special Branch work; training; police advanced driving as supported by courses with other forces on the adjacent isle. At one stage Chris was stationed in Onchan for seven and half years, this posting having fulfilled an ambition of becoming a "village bobby" albeit he shared the job with two other officers.
On leaving the police and retraining, Chris has worked in the finance sector as a general administrator for a major life assurance company and on the security team for a major retail store in Douglas specialising in CCTV operations.
Latterly he held the position of Community Officer with Onchan District Commissioners for eight years, during the course of which he was sub-contracted to Laxey Village Commissioners to carry out work for them. His former local knowledge collated whilst on the police force proved invaluable in this role
Currently, Chris resides in Wyborn Drive, with his partner Jean of 24 years standing and their latest canine adoption "Buster" an eleven year old - Staffordshire Bull Terrier.
Chris' hobbies include Photography; Reading (non-fiction) Quad biking; gardening; foreign travel; fishing; dogs, walking and wood turning / carving.Back to members
