On the 24th June 2016 the Public Services Commission published a statement on the Isle of Man Government website in relation to a complaint made by Rae Hamilton against officers of the Department of Infrastructure. The statement included inaccurate and potentially defamatory comments about and relating to Onchan District Commissioners. Prior to publication of the statement, the Public Services Commission failed to give Onchan District Commissioners a reasonable period of time to comment on the contents of the statement or the accuracy of any of the comments made in the statement. Onchan District Commissioners were not a party to any enquiry which may have been undertaken by the Public Services Commission. Onchan District Commissioners strongly deny the allegations made against them in the statement. Advocates acting for Onchan District Commissioners have written to the Public Services Commission demanding a retraction of the statement and a public apology for the erroneous references in the statement to Onchan District Commissioners. Onchan District Commissioners do not intend to comment further until a response has been received from the Public Services Commission.
