Harvey Briggs Cup for Writing

Young people age 14 and under are invited to write a story, poem or news article on the theme of 'Time Travel' for this year's Harvey Briggs Cup For Writing Competition. There are many tales to tell around this topic - turning back the clock, going through a wormhole, or visiting the future to name a few.

This competition was initiated by Harvey Briggs in 2006. As a longstanding farming correspondent for Isle of Man newspapers and a writer himself, he wanted to encourage young people to write creatively. Onchan Library was renamed in honour of Harvey Briggs in 2015, and the library is proud to hold this competition in his memory.

Children have until Saturday 14th April to fire up their imaginations and start writing. The overall winner will receive The Harvey Briggs Cup for Writing, and there will be prizes for the runners-up. Each entry must be the entrant's own work, and please ensure that name, age and contact details are included. Please contact The Harvey Briggs Onchan Library Tel: 621228 or email onchan.library@onchan.org.im for more information.
