Local Authority Election Dates

Local Authority Election Dates

Urgent sittings of the House of Keys and the Legislative Council will take place tomorrow.

Both branches of Tynwald will sit to consider emergency legislation to move the local authority election date to July.

A bill which enables the change will be put forward by Infrastructure Minister Tim Baker, who'll seek to have it pass through all the stages in one day.

It's understood this will also cover issues to do with the legality of decisions made at online meetings and changes to AGM requirements.

The elections were due to take place on 22 April, but were delayed for a second consecutive year as a result of Covid concerns.
