RENT SETTING 2022/23

Onchan District Commissioners have recommended that tenants in local government general housing and sheltered housing should face as minimal rent increase as possible.

The Department of Infrastructure wrote to local authorities across the Island, seeking their views on any change to the rental levy for the next financial year.

After careful consideration, at the meeting of the Board held on 23rd August 2021, it was unanimously resolved that a 1% increase in the social housing rents for the 2022/23 financial year be submitted to the Department of Infrastructure for consideration.

Recommendations will be collated from all Local Authorities and a report issued to the Cabinet Office who will make the ultimate decision as to what, if any, rent rise will apply.

An update on the rent setting process is not expected until later this year.
