Onchan District Commissioners' position regarding Social Housing rents is clear and consistent in not supporting the Department of Infrastructure's year on year increases.
However, we have to accept the amount set by the Department and cannot, by virtue of legislation enacted by the Department of Infrastructure, make any adjustments without their approval.
Whilst our two MHKs have opposing views on this subject, we can only hope they will act together to lobby the Minister to reconsider and reverse his decision on the deficiency payment which was stopped in 2016. This will help us provide the best accommodation possible within our financial constraints for all our Tenant's.
