The Manx Christmas Star

Local astronomer Howard Parkin took time out of his busy schedule to give a talk on ‘The Manx Christmas Star’ at Harvey Briggs Onchan Library. It was a fascinating insight into the astronomy underpinning the magic of The Christmas Story, and how it could have been perceived from the Isle of Man.

Howard Parkin has taught astronomy since 1985, and was elected as a fellow of The Royal Astronomical Society in 2013. He founded the astronomy consultancy Astromanx, and obtained Dark Skies discovery status for 26 sites throughout the Isle of Man.  Howard also lectures on astronomy throughout the Isle of Man and UK, and Worldwide on cruise ships.

You can catch his next talk at the TEDx Douglas event https://www.facebook.com/TEDxDouglas/ on Saturday 9th December.
