At a reception held in the Boardroom at Onchan District Commissioners, Mr Hector Duff, was presented with the Crosh Pobble Chonnaghyn (Onchan Community Cross Award).

This cross is awarded every two years to a recipient selected from the numerous people in Onchan who have added to the quality of life in the district.  The award is in recognition of their publicly spirited work within the community.

There are so many people who do good within the community, the Trustees of the Crosh Pobble Chonnaghyn Award stated that Mr Duff was chosen from a large number of nominations which had been received.

The Chairman of Onchan District Commissioners, congratulated Mr Duff, and presented him with the  Award.

The Chairman commented that "Mr Duff was the epitome of selflessness and endeavour in working for the greater good of the community, inspiring young and old alike in ensuring that for generations to come the supreme sacrifice made by those in two world wars will never be forgotten.'

Mr Duff will add the Crosh Pobble Chonnaghyn to his previously presented awards, the Tynwald Honour, the British Empire Medal and the Military Medal.
