The Commissioners purchased the old Fine Furnishings site off Marion Road in 2014 and have
embarked on a scheme to develop the site for social housing units. Demolition of the existing
structure took place early in 2016 and following a rigorous design process the Commissioners
granted approval to Tooms Bros Ltd to progress a scheme for the construction of 8 two-bedroom
apartments. Planning permission was granted in August 2016 and works commenced on site early
December.
The project is starting to rise out of the ground and is on schedule for completion in November this
year.
