Mr Terry Black

It is with great sadness that the Commissioners have learned of the death on 8th September of their former Chairman and long serving colleague, Mr Stanley Terrance (Terry) Black.

Mr. Black joined the Board of Commissioners as a result of a bye-election in October 1990, when he topped the pole of three candidates. Over the following 22 years he served as Chairman of various committees as well as being Chairman of the Board of Commissioners in 1997 and 2003. He stood down at the 2012 election, and will be fondly remembered by many past and present Members and staff of the Authority as a lively contributor to debate who was always keen that local authorities act for the benefit of their electorate.

The Commissioners and staff extend their deepest condolences to Terry's wife Maureen, daughters Yvonne and Nicola, and his many grandchildren.

The Commissioners' flag will be flown at half mast as a mark of respect today, and on the day of Mr Black's Funeral.

The funeral service will be held at St Peters Church Onchan on Monday the 17th of September at 12.00 noon, followed by interment. Family flowers only please, donations in lieu if so desired may be sent to the Parkinson's Disease Society, Care of the Treasurer, 1 Mount View Road, Onchan, IM3 4AB or to Rebecca House, Hospice Isle of Man, IM4 4RP.
