Onchan Park Boating Lake

Onchan District Commissioners have received a number of enquiries regarding the boating pool at Onchan Park following the recent incident in the UK where a number of children passed away after falling in to a frozen lake.

We have commenced emptying the boating pool to reduce the risk of an accident, but due to the current prolonged inclement weather it is taking a long time for the water to leave the pool, and there will still be a risk of ice in the bottom of the pool once it empties. We have also erected warning signage around the perimeter of the pool.

We kindly ask that nobody tries to enter the pool area, and for members of the public to be aware of the advice already publicly provided by the IOM Police and the Royal Life Saving Society in relation to frozen water.
