At the meeting of the Board of Onchan District Commissioners held last night, 20th January 2020, the Chairman and Commissioners were saddened to hear of the passing of former Member and Chairman of Onchan Parish Commissioners Mr Robert Patrick Goodby. They recognised his contribution to the community by holding a one minutes silence as a mark of respect at the start of the meeting.
Mr Goodby became a Parish Commissioner in 1982, and later served as chairman of the Parish Commissioners from 1984/85. He a District Commissioner on 1st April 1986 at the time of the amalgamation of the Parish and Village Commissioner for the interregnum of one month, and retired as a Member in May 1986.
On behalf of the Chairman, Members and staff of the Commissioners we wish to offer sincere condolences and sympathy to Mr Goodby's family and friends.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday 22nd January 2020, at St Peter's Church, Onchan, at 1.15 p.m.
