The large ash tree at the Rec play area has sadly been affected by Ash Dieback. In the interest of safety, the crown has been removed, but the trunk and limbs remain for Isle of Play to use during the school holidays. Creative repurposing ideas are also being considered such as carvings or incorporating it into future play area designs.
The smaller white beam tree situated between the the Rec play area and the car park was removed due to a large decaying wound at the base of the tree. As this tree was removed under a license, a replacement tree will be planted by the Authority.
The lime tree outside the front of the Authority's office has been pruned by 25% to enhance the safety of the adjacent pedestrian crossing.
The Authority wishes to thank the public for their patience while the works were undertaken.
