Onchan District Commissioners are delighted to announce the installation of school crossing point warning signs in conjunction with the Department of Infrastructure. These lights are placed as a warning to motorists on Main Road in Onchan that there is a crossing point ahead which may be hidden and are active as a road safety feature during school arrival and departure times.
There have been a number of incidents in the last 12 months of motorists not stopping while these crossings are in use by children, and while there have been no serious injuries, the Commissioners hope that the addition of warning lights will act as a reminder to motorists that they should proceed with caution as those using the crossings may not be immediately visible.
