Onchan District Commissioners provide a cost effective domestic waste disposal service and every property is provided with a standard 240 litre wheeled bin. The cost of this service is included in the annual rates which pay for the regular collection of the waste in the standard bin and the cost of disposal at the Energy from Waste plant.
It is recognised that some households find that the standard bin is insufficient for their needs and in this case a larger wheeled bin 360 litre or a second 240 litre bin can be provided on request at an additional cost.
As the Commissioners pay for the cost of waste disposal on the basis of weight and the waste collected in a larger or second wheeled bin will usually be heavier there is an additional annual cost for this service.
From 1st April 2017 the annual cost for a larger wheeled bin of 360 litre is £40 per year and for a second 240 litre bin £80 per year.
Payment for is due on the 1st April each year and failure to make the payment within 28 days will result in the larger wheeled bin being replaced with the standard size or the second bin being removed.
